THE SCHOOL FOR
HEALING AND SPIRITUAL STUDIES
The UIC School of Healing and Spiritual
Studies is a school dedicated to a spiritual, academic and exploring environment. The School reflects the mission of
the Universal Interfaith Church including religious tolerance, honoring each individual and assisting in the personal achievements
of its students. The School offers three programs: Personal Spiritual Development. Healing Arts, and Ministerial.
Classes in the various programs will be held once a week for six weeks. Workshops will be scheduled on Saturdays.
The 2011-2012 School year begins August 22, 2011 and ends on June 18, 2012. Three
classes in each program will be offered each semester. Winter break will be December 19, 2011-January 8, 2012.
Semester I begins August 22, 2011 and ends December 19, 2011. Semester II begins January 9, 2012 and ends June 18, 2012.
Classes are open to the public on an individual class or workshop basis.
PROGRAMS
Personal Spiritual Development Program
This is a one year program with one class per week to explore the foundations of spiritual development, including the nature
of the self, tapping into intuition, meditation and prayer and a class on World Religions. There will be two workshops: "The
Art of Harmony and Balance" and "The Art of Dowsing."
Healing Arts Program
The Healing Arts program is a two year program with a practicum required before receiving
a certificate of completion. This program explores the foundations of the healing arts, training in the different modes
of reality, holistic healing, and energy balancing. There will be three workshops: Healing with Herbs and Oils, Reflexology,
and Using Crystals and Stones in Healing. Classes will be held once per week.
Ministerial
Program
The Ministerial Program is a three year program. Ministerial
students will take all the classes for the Personal Spiritual Development Program and the Healing Arts Program for the first
year and during the second year will take specific Ministerial classes in addition to completing the Healing Arts Program.
The third year will focus on ministerial preparation. Graduates of the Ministerial Program may, but are not required to, petition
the UIC Council for ordination as a UIC Minister. Candidates for ordination, upon acceptance, will complete a three month
internship for the church and a three month community service project.
Textbooks
Textbooks required for classes are not included in the class fees. Students are responsible
for the purchase of all textbooks.

Personal Spiritual Development Course Descriptions
Self Exploration. This course is designed
for the student to explore various ways of understanding the self, including handwriting analysis, non-verbal communication,
the conscious, subconscious and superconscious as taught by the ancient Hawaiians, Enneagrams and Personality Profiles.

World Religions. What are the basic beliefs for each of the major
world religions? This course explores Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and the Metaphysical religions. Instructors
come from the various religious disciplines.

Exploring Meditation and Prayer. There
are many meditation and prayer techniques and students will experience many different ones during this course. Learning
the techniques and practicing them brings an understanding of the greater role of meditation and prayer in the student's

Tapping Into Intuition.
What is the force that goes beyond the five senses to bring us information and insight? This course explores
intuition through learning techniques that heighten and strengthen the natural intuition within each student. (Instructors:

Consciousness. This is a deeper study of consciousness, the latest theories, the history of the understanding

Understanding
the Self. Are we physical beings trying to understand a spiritual life or are we spiritual beings exploring
this physical reality? What makes the self? What makes the Self? What is the ego? These and other important
topics will be explored as we take a journey into the inner worlds for a greater understanding of the self/Self. (Instructor:

WORKSHOPS:
The Art of Harmony and Balance - This workshop introduces the art of Feng Shui, the 3,000 year old practice of bringing
harmony and balance into the home, office and other environments. Specific tools will be given to create more harmony

The Art of Dowsing. Dowsing
is a tool used for centuries to determine the location of water, but it has also been used as a tool to communicate with the
inner self to gain information about the self, including health issues and solutions. This workshop is a hands on experience

HEALING ARTS COURSE
DESCRIPTIONS
Foundations of Healing. This six-week course introduces the
student to the basic principles of healing, including an introduction to self-healing, the use of intuition and the concept
of energy; defines "a healer" with a discussion of the ethics of the healing arts; explores four different modalities
of healing; and, encourages the student to work with his or her unique gift of healing. The dynamics of healing will
be discussed with the student gaining an understanding of alternate states of reality as they relate to the healing process.

Healing the Inner Child.
Healers are called to heal often because their own inner child needs healing. This course
explores and encourages the students to do the in-depth work that is necessary to understand on a personal basis the process
of healing that begins with the inner child. At the end of the course students will have a working knowledge of their
own inner processes and the necessary tools to assist those coming to them for healing. (Instructor: Rev. Arlyn

Science of Beliefs. The role
of beliefs in the healing process is an important part of such process. Students will gain a knowledge of how beliefs
lodge in the subconscious, explore their own beliefs, learn how to encourage others to explore their beliefs, and how to change
negative beliefs to positive life-affirming beliefs. (Instructor: Rev. Arlyn Macdonald and other instructors to

Healing Modalities Practice I. This six-week
course is a hands-on application of three healing modalities: Therapeutic Touch, Energy Balancing and Long Distance Healing.
The student is expected to engage in learning and applying all three modalities. Students will practice on other students
in the class, keep a healing modality journal and be ready to discuss their experiences. (Instructors: To be announced)

Psychology
and Healing. Healing is as much an emotional and mental process as a physical process. This course explores
the workings of the intellectual and emotional minds and how they relate to the physical body. The course includes a
study of human anatomy and how beliefs influence various parts of the body. (Instructor to be announced.)

Communication in Healing.
There are many forms of communication and the student will be introduced to the structure of communication, the methods of
communication and how to communicate in a healing manner with the self and with those who come for healing treatments.

PRACTICUM
In order to receive a Healing Arts Certificate of completion, all Healing
Arts students must complete a three-month Practicum, showing an understanding of the ethics of healing, the protocols, expertise
in the six modalities of healing, communication and encouragement of clients, and pass an oral interview. Details of
the practicum will be finalized at the end of the fourth semester.
MINISTERIAL PROGRAM
This is a three year program for
ministerial students. To apply for the Ministerial Program a student must complete an application and an essay on "Why
I am called to be a minister." Upon graduation a student may apply for ordination through the Universal Interfaith
Church. Students enrolled in the Ministerial Program will complete all of the classes in the one-year Personal Spiritual
Development Program and the two-year Ministerial classes. Any classes missed by ministerial students must be made
up.

Practicums
Practicums are required of all ministerial students before graduation. The Community
Service Project is required before graduation. Students may submit their six-week Community Service practicum plans
to the UIC Council before the final semester. A six-week internship is required of all ordination candidates after graduation
and before ordination. The internship plans are due with the application for ordination to the UIC Council before graduation.
ORDINATION
Graduates of the Ministerial Program may apply for ordination through the Universal Interfaith Church.
