The Compassion Connection Project
     Sending Compassion Around the World

The Charter for Compassion is on its way around the world.  It left Montrose, Colorado, January 1st and has visited the Unity Church of Christianity in Topeka, Kansas and is now visiting the Unity Church of Lawrence, Kansas.  God Speed.

The Universal Interfaith is sending out the Charter for Compassion on a year long journey to other spiritual communities whose members wish to affirm their commitment to practice Compassion.  A copy of the Charter for Compassion is being mailed together with something that shows how that particular spiritual community is practicing Compassion.  Each church or spiritual community that receives the Compassion Connection Package is invited to share it with their members, display the Compassion items submitted by other churches or communities, invite people to sign the Charter for Compassion as their commitment to practice Compassion, add their own item representing their group, and then send it on to another church or spiritual community.  On December 31, 2010, the package should be mailed back to the Universal Interfaith Church (Community for Spiritual Awareness), P.O. Box 804, Montrose, CO 81402.

The Charter for Compassion is an international effort to get people to realize that Compassion is taught by all the major religions through some version of the Golden Rule.  Author and TED award recipient, Karen Armstrong, is a passionate advocate for Compassion.  In 2008 she was one of the three winners of the TED Prize and granted her "One Wish to Change the World."  She invited submissions from the international community to send in their drafts for the Charter.  Thousands of people worldwide supported this project. The final draft was compiled by the Council of Conscience composed of religious thinkers and leaders worldwide, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu.  His Holiness the Dalai Lama has already signed the Charter.

When you receive the Charter, please fill in the form below and send it to UIC so we know where the Charter has stopped on its journey.  Thank you for joining us in this effort for world peace.
